About Me
About Me
I am a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst with over 15 years of experience, specializing in the care of children, adolescents, and young adults. My expertise spans psychotherapy, neurodevelopmental disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, and the impact of nutrition and environmental factors on mental health.
I take a patient-centered, holistic approach, working closely with the individual's support network to ensure comprehensive and compassionate care. My work integrates psychoanalytic depth with clinical expertise, helping individuals navigate complex emotional and psychological challenges.
I am deeply committed to both the scientific understanding of mental health and the unique personal experiences of my patients. My goal is to help individuals and families build emotional resilience and reach their full potential. My clinical practice continues to shape my areas of special interest, and I continuously develop my expertise to meet the evolving needs of my patients.
Additionally, I have a special interest in working with individuals in artistic, performance, and sports fields, helping them manage the psychological demands of high-pressure environments while fostering creativity and well-being.
Training & Professional Experience
I completed my postgraduate training in general psychiatry at Chelsea & Westminster and Royal Free Hospitals, followed by subspecialty training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Guy’s and Maudsley Hospitals.
In 2011, I became a Consultant Psychiatrist at Brent NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, leading multidisciplinary adolescent and neurodevelopmental teams.
To deepen my work in psychotherapy, I pursued further training in medical psychotherapy at the Tavistock Clinic, later completing psychoanalytic training at the London Institute of Psychoanalysis, qualifying as an adult psychoanalyst.
I have worked across outpatient, inpatient, and day hospital settings, gaining experience in:
Child and adolescent mental health teams
Specialist adult psychotherapy teams
National & specialist mental health services, including:
Neurodevelopmental disorders

Advocacy, Teaching & Research
I am deeply committed to advocacy, teaching, and mentoring, alongside my clinical work. As the Lead Child Psychiatrist at New Beginnings, a charity supporting traumatized and displaced children in Turkish orphanages, I help:
Reunite adolescent mothers with their babies.
Train staff in attachment and trauma-focused therapy.
Restructure orphanages to ensure consistent care and robust mental health support.
In addition, I am actively involved in teaching and mentoring. I lead a seminar group at the London Institute of Psychoanalysis and regularly mentor young doctors and therapists. I also provide public education seminars on mental health, contributing to journals and social media to promote awareness and understanding.
My academic and research interests focus on advancing knowledge in mental health, neuropsychiatric conditions, and social factors affecting well-being. My research includes:
Eating Disorders – Investigating the link between eating disorders, depression, and anxiety at the Institute of Psychiatry.
Neuropsychiatric Disorders – Studying Huntington’s and Alzheimer’s diseases at Harvard and Northwestern Medical Schools (USA).
Mental Health & Immigration – Collaborating on a suicide prevention project in the immigrant population in the UK, with findings presented at the House of Commons on World Mental Health Day.
